What is Pilates?

The Pilates Method was named after it's creator Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1880-1967). It includes over 500 controlled, precise movements executed on a mat or with special equipment designed to develop the body uniformly.

 

The system focuses on your core muscles, which includes stomach, back and buttocks with an emphasis on muscular-skeletal balance, proper breathing and spinal alignment. It is designed to stretch and strengthen muscle without adding bulk.

 

It requires concentration, thus working the body and mind.

A Certified Pilates Instructor through Power Pilates, Aixa holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Puerto Rico and has an extensive background as a dancer and a Broadway performer.

She has worked teaching Pilates at different venues in Westchester and New York City, including the cast and crew of Lion King on Broadway. Through years of performing, training, and teaching experience, she has developed an acute awareness of body alignment and muscle efficiency, thus, enabling her to assist her clients to achieve their body’s maximum potential.
